Add your voice: Canadians for affordable housing in fed budget

Over the next month, the federal government is preparing a critically important federal budget that responds to the current economic crisis. Now is your chance to add your voice to the growing number of Canadians who are demanding that affordable housing investments be a key part of the next federal budget.

Join the Facebook group “Canadians for affordable housing in the federal budget”. If you’re not already a Facebooker, it’s easy (and free) to sign on.

Housing represents the single biggest expense for most Canadian households; and housing is one of the most fundamental determinants of health. Poor housing leads directly to poor health and premature morality. Canada has a rich and successful history of good quality, cost-effective housing solutions in communities across the country. Federal investment in affordable housing has dropped to its lowest level, on a per capita basis, in two decades. We urgently need the federal government to make the investments now.

The housing Facebook group was launched by the dynamic folks at the Calgary Homeless Foundation and is supported by the Wellesley Institute and many others across the country. In addition to adding your name, you can add comments, identify local issues and solutions, add photos and video. Let’s go viral!
