WI-HAN 3rd annual municipal budget forum on housing / homelessness: Friday, Feb. 6

Mark your calendars and plan to attend the third annual Wellesley Institute – Housing Action Now municipal budget forum. Toronto’s $8 billion-plus municipal budget will be released in draft form on February 10, and city councillors will finalize the budget in about one month. On Friday, February 6, from 9 am to 1 pm, there will be a community forum at the College Street United Church, 502 Bathurst Street (northwest corner of Bathurst at College (TTC: take either the College or Bathurst streetcars). Light refreshments will be served.

How should the City of Toronto spend the billions in its annual operating budget (including the hundreds of millions devoted to housing and homelessness) to ensure homes for all? Panelists include Michael Shapcott, The Wellesley Institute; Hugh Mackenzie, Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives; Maura Lawless, 519 Community Centre; Loly Rico: FCJ Refugee Centre; Anne Carruthers, Toronto Drop in Network; Cathy Crowe, Toronto Disaster Relief Committee. Please RSVP to Ann Fitzpatrick at 416-924-4646 x 3482, or amfitzpatrick@torontocas.ca
