Pandemic Flu action plans

The WI has been working to raise the awareness that organizations need to develop concrete action plans for the upcoming pandemic flu possibility. These focus on four principles:

  1. Ensuring a multi-sectoral approach through private-public and third sector partnerships
  2. Developing personal and organizations plans quickly
  3. Ensuring a well researched role for primary care and public health people
  4. Ensuring a strong equity issue as the pandemic affects certain people disproportionately

A number of organizations have provided frameworks for organizational plans:

  1. Toronto Public Health has working guides for businesses, service providers, etc at http://www.toronto.ca/health/pandemicflu/index.htm at no charge
  2. See the WI research on this site under Thomas Appleyard
  3. Other information can be accesses at the Public Health Agency of Canada http://www.phac-aspc.gc.ca
  4. The Ontario Ministry of health and Long Term care has provided their Emergency preparedness plan at http://www.health.gov.on.ca/english/providers/program/emu/emerg_prep/emerg_resp_plan.html
  5. The Conference Board has guides available for $895 on their website
