The Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives released public opinion data showing that income inequality is a pressing concern of the great majority of Canadians. A national poll found that of Canadians feel the gap between rich and poor is growing. Almost said they were only one or two paycheques away from poverty. Many saw that inequality will have an adverse effect on the quality of life and social fabric of Canadian society. The poll can be found here.
This release kicks off a wider national project called The Growing Gap. This initiative is part of the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives’ Inequality Project, a national project to increase public awareness about the alarming spread of income and wealth inequality in Canada. Further analysis and information on the project can be found here. Check the site frequently for updates and new analyses.
