Immigrant Women Integration Program (IWIP) 2008-2009 Trainee Recruitment Information / Call for Applications
Program Description
IWIP provides a 10-month intensive training course (October 2008 – July 2009) for new immigrant women with focus and emphasis on community engagement and leadership development. Approximately 25 hours per week or 1000 hours of in-class and field training (plus additional time to complete course-work assignments)
Eligibility - New immigrant women who meet the following criteria may apply:
- Must live in Regent Park, St. James Town, Moss Park, one of the 13 Priority Neighbourhoods and Toronto inner suburbs;
- Must have good oral and written communication skills in English;
- Must be fluent, both oral and written, in a language other than English;
- Must have intermediate computer skills.
Applicants Must
- have a sincere interest and commitment in working to address community issues;
- be committed to attending the training full-time, and delivering/completing all requirements of the course;
- be open to learning new concepts and theories;
- be able to apply learned concepts and move theories into action;
- be forward-thinking.
