As a leader, manager or coordinator of any service agency or programme you appreciate the vital importance of clear, motivational communication.Improving your written and person-to-person communication skills will move your organization and programmes forward.

The workshop will give you a system for creating effective communications. You will come away with a set of principles, which will make you, now and in the future, a more disciplined, persuasive communicator.

Participants Will Learn:

  • recognize that all communications , from a memo, report or brochure to a speech or a pitch in a meeting , require similar analysis and planning
  • establish themes in an outline, often around central questions or ideas, before you fill in the details
  • understand the principles of "plain language" communications
  • understand and utilize the essence of the journalistic method by analyzing the structure and content of typical news articles , explore how the writer effectively sets up the key facts and ideas
  • consider your own "communications personality", and begin to incorporate the personal communications skills that make some public figures, like Stephen Lewis and Michalle Jean, renowned communicators
  • find ways to engage your audience and commit them to your information or project by formulating an audience profile, for a brochure that provides an overview of your organization
  • be conscious of the emotional content of what you write or say
