Diabetes is a problem to be solved. According to the World Health Organization, 90 percent of Type 2 cases could be prevented through healthier diets and increased physical activity. But what we know about the social determinants of health tells us that healthy diets and physical activity don’t act in isolation. This discussion paper explores diabetes prevention and management in Canada from a social determinants of health perspective.
