Researchers intended to conduct a community asset mapping (CAM) of York Region. CAM uses maps to illustrate different community characteristics. For example, researchers interested in homelessness might create a map showing the concentration of homelessness in different parts of a community. One of the greatest challenges of the project was convincing funders that engaging community members in addressing high priority issues was not only possible but also necessary for the success of the research.
