Art ZoccoleBased on a holistic understanding of health, researchers created a survey to assess the heath needs of Two-Spirited People youth in Toronto. A holistic health model is based on the medicine wheel including mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health in contrast to the “bio-medical” model of Western medicine. This study was unique because very little research exists on aboriginal youth in urban areas. Instead, research has focused on aboriginals living in First Nation communities or reserves.
