Dr. Herbert Bruce stands at the far left.The first hospital at Wellesley and Homewood.Wellesley Hospital was known for top nursing care; its School of Nursing operated from 1912 to 1974, when nursing education in Ontario was moved to community colleges.Wellesley Hospital was a leader in the treatment of burns, kidney diease, rheumatoid diseases, and in research into arthritis and autoimmunity. It operated the second busiest emergency room in the downtown core of Toronto, and in 1988, it became the primary care centre for HIV/AIDS patients in the Toronto area.
