Alpha Abebe currently manages the Supports for Success research project, and the Wellesley Junior Fellowship. In these roles, she draws on her experience managing and conducting research initiatives, designing education and professional development programs, and global youth advocacy.
She completed a PhD in International Development at the University of Oxford, and her doctoral research explored how and why young diasporans of Ethiopian origin were engaged in Ethiopian development. She has spent several years as an international and community development practitioner, with a focus on youth engagement, education, and employment among racialized and low-income communities.
Alpha is also a photographer and she often uses her art as a tool for storytelling, community engagement, and cross-cultural dialogue. Her art, advocacy, and academic work are all informed and strengthened by each other.
