Vinusha Gunaseelan holds a Master of Science in Health Services Research from the University of Toronto’s Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation. Throughout her graduate studies, Vinusha developed a keen interest in the social determinants of child and mental health. Her Master’s thesis with TARGet Kids (The Applied Research Group for Kids) investigated the association between maternal ethnicity and early childhood iron status across the Greater Toronto Area. As a Junior Fellow, Vinusha hopes to better understand the factors influencing policy issues impacting health equity in the Greater Toronto Area in order to research innovative solutions. Her project will investigate the differences in access to social capital by race and ethnicity in Toronto.
