Comprehensive Assessment and Solution Process for Aging Residents

The Comprehensive Assessment and Solution Process for Aging Residents focus on older adults with physical/functional impairments. It was designed to assist rehabilitation professionals in collecting data to inform home modifications without the remodeling professionals conducting onsite home assessments by themselves.

The Comprehensive Assessment and Solution Process for Aging Residents consists of six sections, including contact information, client information, problems in the home, client goals, description of the home, and summary information. The completed Comprehensive Assessment and Solution Process for Aging Residents tool – sent to the remodelling professional – is usually accompanied by photographs of the home environment that was assessed.

With respect to housing quality indicators, Comprehensive Assessment and Solution Process for Aging Residents assesses the nature of the house’s physical structures (e.g., stairs, bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, etc.) as it relates to how accessible they are for the patient/client. The tool also assesses lighting, heating and air conditioning systems.

The assessors include a range of professionals such as aging service providers, occupational therapists, physical therapists, care managers, social workers and building professionals.
