Social determinants of health significantly impact the health and the aging experiences of older adults. Furthermore, prejudice and discrimination based on age intersects with other forms of discrimination, including those based on gender, disability and socioeconomic status, to amplify vulnerability and health inequities. It’s important that older adults have their needs met and are supported to age well whether living independently, in long-term care, in supportive housing or while receiving home care support.
