Children’s experiences influence their life-long physical and mental health. The impacts of the social determinants of health are often amplified for children and can shape their outcomes later in life. For example, up to half of all mental health conditions start by 14 years of age. Evidence shows the earlier we invest, the more return we get for our investment. It is important to look upstream and tackle the systemic causes that may be preventing children from reaching their full health potential.
