Youth Engagement in a Digital Age

The St. James Town Initiative was invited to present at the Toronto Neighbourhood Centres’ Youth Workers Forum: Youth Engagement in a Digital Age.  Research assistant Estelle Sun presented on behalf of the St. James Town Initiative and Wellesley Institute. Estelle discussed our experience with using a variety of technological tools for engaging youths. Our tools, cameras and the Internet, are simple to use and highly successful for generating and maintaining interest among multicultural youths.  By sharing our experiences and challenges, we hope to encourage, guide, and collaborate with others towards enhancing the field’s capacity for engaging youths.

Acknowledgement of Traditional Land

We wish to acknowledge this land on which the Wellesley Institute operates. For thousands of years, it has been the traditional land of the Huron-Wendat, the Seneca, and the Mississaugas of the Credit. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work on this land.
