Community Voices Part II: Tackling inequity through a community-based initiative on the social determinants of health

The second of a two-part series, this report reflects the “voices” of St. James Town newcomer residents through the use of the Photovoice research method.

Pictures were taken by 27 residents of and visitors to St. James Town. The photographers took pictures that speak to their experiences of how the St. James Town neighbourhood is affecting the health and well-being of its residents. In consultation with the photographers, words were taken from the stories to create captions for each picture that capture the essence of the photographers’ messages.

Nasim Haque, Erin Moriarty and Emily Anderson sorted 54 of these photos into five theme areas based on the main issue highlighted in each story.
