South Asian communities experience vast health inequities resulting in disproportionately poor health outcomes when compared with non-racialized and other Ontarian groups. The range and impact of these health inequities is examined in the report, A Diagnosis for Equity: An Initial Analysis of South Asian Health Inequities in Ontario by Council of Agencies Serving South Asians (CASSA). Through a comprehensive series of roundtables and key informant interviews, the project consolidates evidence about South Asian health inequities in Ontario, identifies the needs and concerns of community providers, and develops several recommendations for stakeholder action. Discussions at the report launch highlighted the importance of shifting attention towards addressing the underlying causes of health inequities rather than their consequences.
