Summary of Provincial Strategy/Alignment of IHSP to Strategy
Like other LHINs, Erie St. Clair LHIN’s IHSP 2010-2013 supports ministry priorities to promote equitable access to health care for all Ontarians and to improve access to care in 3 areas:
- reducing wait times in emergency departments;
- reducing the time patients spend in ALC beds in hospitals and
- supporting the Ontario diabetes strategy
Erie St. Clair’s Vision for the Local Health Care System – Principles
- Community Engagement
- Cooperation, coordination and integration
- Equity and Diversity – communities are made up of individuals from diverse cultures, believes and lifestyle choices. The LHINs [in general] should, whenever possible, commit to equity and respect for diversity in communities especially with respect to French speaking and Aboriginal populations
- Accountability and Transparency
- Sustainability

- Effective
- Safe
- Person-centred
- Focus on population health
- Equitable – will the proposed direction/initiative provide the same access and quality of services to people regardless of who they are or where they live?
- Integrated
- Appropriately resourced (i.e. sustainable)
