Veteran MPP Jim Bradley, who has served in the Ontario Legislature for more than 30 years, has been named the new Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing in an Ontario cabinet shuffle announced this afternoon. Minister Bradley replaces former Minister Gerretsen, who held the position temporarily after the resignation last week of former Minister Jim Watson – who left the cabinet to pursue election as the Mayor of Ottawa. At the top of the agenda for Minister Bradley will be completing work on Ontario’s long-term affordable housing strategy. Public consultations on the strategy were held over six months last year, and the Wellesley Institute worked with the Housing Network of Ontario to ensure a strong voice for people and communities across Ontario. The comprehensive new housing plan is expected by June of 2010.
