Re: Moving forward with an exciting future: The transition plan
Dear Friends,
As you are aware from previous correspondence, our CEO has accepted a new challenge and we thank him for his contribution over the past eleven years. Rick will continue to work with the WI until the end of October with full CEO responsibilities but we recognize that we should apprise you of our transition plan following that end date.
The Board has selected an executive search firm to help with recruiting a new Leader to head the organization and work with Staff in taking the WI to the next level of success and impact. We expect to have him or her in place by March 1, 2014 or sooner.
In the interim, given the seniority and experience of our current leadership team, we have decided against appointing an “Interim CEO”. During the transition, our staff will continue to implement the Strategic and Annual plans. Each Director will continue to focus on their areas of expertise (affordable housing, economic inequality, healthcare reform and equity, and research) and manage staff reporting to them. Therefore should you have specific questions about their portfolio, please call them directly.
Dr. Bob Gardner will assume a coordinating role and act as the Co-Chairs’ internal contact as it makes sense to have one point person. Should you have any general questions please call Bob. Nadiya Troyan continues as our Board Administrator and Office Manager so please direct any administrative or financial matters to her.
The Board has confidence in our team’s abilities to execute the annual plan and nurture their external relationships. Hence we will have a “business as usual” approach at the Wellesley during the next few months until we select a new leader.
