People living with HIV/AIDS (PHAs) often experience unpredictable episodes of illness or disability as a side effect of medical treatment. A review of disability income support and employment policies suggests that these programs do not meet the needs of PHAs suffering from episodic health problems. Through this project, researchers were able form a National Advisory Committee of community groups, academics, and other stakeholders with expertise in HIV/AIDS, the labour force, and income support research. The Committee has developed a research proposal to examine how different employment models affect the well-being of people living with HIV/AIDS and continues to collaborate on other projects as well.
