The Ontario Ministry of Labour has been holding public consultations, The Changing Workplaces Review, to consider how labour laws can be updated to best protect workers while supporting businesses in our changing economy.
In this joint submission, Wellesley Institute and Toronto Public Health provide health and health equity analysis and advice, and evidence-based recommendations. Employment is an important determinant of health. The Review is a critical opportunity to reform legislation governing employment relationships in Ontario in ways that will better protect and promote health for a broad section of the working population.
