About Wellesley Institute Labs (WILABS)
Wellesley Institute Labs bring together groups of stakeholders, experts and community to push, stretch, and test research ideas that impact the social determinants of health and health equity. Wellesley Institute works in the GTA and beyond to ask how we can improve health and health equity for all. Through our labs we create a collaborative process to engage stakeholders across sectors, not ending the process at content production, but always asking, what’s next.
Wellesley Institute Labs use a combination of group facilitation methods, systems thinking, and creative thinking tools to bring out the complementary expertise in the room to generate new thinking and build new collaborations. Past labs have engaged participants in coming to consensus on guiding principles, mapping out systems, generating new ideas, and deepening understanding on an issue or topic with agreed upon next steps.
Each Wellesley Lab is developed in partnership with the leading organization. Planning involves setting outcome goals and experiential aims for the lab, identifying key stakeholders and an invitation list, and tailoring activities to suit the stakeholder group and expected outcomes.
