Health Equity Into Action Through Good Planning: Health Equity Impact Assessment

I recently presented a workshop to senior staff at a Toronto academic hospital on Health Equity Impact Assessment.  We need good planning to operationalize equity within hospitals, community health centres and other service providers and HEIA  is an effective planning tool.

The discussion was incredibly rich and working through the steps of HEIA sparked off really innovative ideas for addressing equity barriers and challenges on the front-line.

The same imagination and innovation was clear at an earlier workshop that Anthony Mohamed, of St Michael’s Hospital, and I presented at Healthy Connections, an annual conference that brings together a wide range of providers and networks.

Acknowledgement of Traditional Land

We wish to acknowledge this land on which the Wellesley Institute operates. For thousands of years, it has been the traditional land of the Huron-Wendat, the Seneca, and the Mississaugas of the Credit. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work on this land.
