Making the Connections: Can small interventions increase health in Toronto?
TORONTO – Good health is about more than doctors, drugs and hospitals. It’s about where we live, work, play and age. Linking together initiatives in Toronto like Luke Anderson’s Stop Gap project, the work of the Mobile Good Food Market, Maayan Ziv’s AccessNow app, and more, Wellesley Institute wants to show how accessibility, food security, access to education, inclusivity and walkability all work together to make cities work better, and to make them healthier places to live.
Wellesley Institute is hosting an event on Friday, November 13th with short inspiring talks and our updated Making the Connections large infographic exhibit, to share more about how the social determinants of health are at play in the GTA.
Making the Connections is an exhibit that walks Torontonians through some of the social factors that have a significant impact on our health: income, housing, education, food, neighbourhood, sense of community, and access to health care.
WHAT: Wellesley Institute is relaunching our popular Making the Connections exhibit about the social determinants of health. Seven inspiring speakers will talk about GTA-based ideas that relate to the broader social determinants.
WHEN: Friday, November 13, 2015. Doors at 5:30, talks 6:30-7:15, complementary snacks refreshments and cash bar.
WHERE: The 519, 519 Church Street, Toronto
