International Housing/Homelessness Summit In Washington: Wellesley Institute Presentations

The Wellesley Institute’s Michael Shapcott was among two dozen housing / homelessness thought and practice leaders who gathered in Washington, DC, last week for an international summit. In addition to supplying a brief overview of Canada’s ‘non-system’ of homeless and housing programs at the national level, he delivered a short presentation to summit participants, then later delivered a second presentation to senior US government housing and homelessness officials at a meeting at the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness. More details on the international summit will be posted shortly.

Acknowledgement of Traditional Land

We wish to acknowledge this land on which the Wellesley Institute operates. For thousands of years, it has been the traditional land of the Huron-Wendat, the Seneca, and the Mississaugas of the Credit. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work on this land.
