Happy Pride Week!

Yesterday the Pride flag was raised at city hall to kick off pride week 2012 here in Toronto. City Councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam reminded us yesterday that in addition to being a cultural event, Pride Week is part of a global human rights movement. Last week also brought long overdue amendments to the Ontario Human Rights Code to include and protect transgendered folks.

The Wellesley Institue wishes everyone a happy and healthy pride week as we remember to celebrate and work toward the kind of inclusive and equal society that we all want to be part of.

Acknowledgement of Traditional Land

We wish to acknowledge this land on which the Wellesley Institute operates. For thousands of years, it has been the traditional land of the Huron-Wendat, the Seneca, and the Mississaugas of the Credit. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work on this land.
