Canada Can Take Practical Steps To Reduce Health Gaps: Expert Testimony To Senate Subcommittee

Dr. Bob Gardner, the Wellesley ‘s Institute’s Director of Policy and Research and a leading authority on health equity, gave expert testimony to the Senate of Canada’s Subcommittee on Population Health—outlining a practical and pragmatic 12-point plan to reduce the gaps in health outcomes between upper and lower-income Canadians. The testimony was webcast live and archived on the Senate of Canada site. A copy of Dr. Gardner’s speaking notes are attached. Bob Gardner

Bob Gardner was the Director of Policy at Wellesley Institute, 2006-2014. His expertise was in health equity policy working with governments, LHINs, service provider networks, and community partners to develop effective strategies and action plans to enhance health equity. He served on many health policy advisory forums, working groups and boards. Bob has a Ph.D. in sociology; has been an academic, public sector executive and consultant; and has been a community activist on HIV/AIDS, reproductive health, and other issues
