There is an urgent need to improve the support of people living with long COVID in the GTA. Initial government action should focus on increasing the capacity of health and social care systems to offer appropriate treatment and supports, ensuring equity in access to treatment and outcomes of treatment.
For our response to be fair, we need to take action on the social determinants that influence the risk of contracting and recovering from long COVID. Wellesley Institute has outlined specific policy recommendations for government covering three areas: knowledge mobilization, improving capacity of primary care and multidisciplinary long COVID health services.
