Partnerships for the Goals

Analysis:

To date that there are no identified policy and funding changes that would explicitly pertain to this SDG. While there have not been any notable announcements that would specifically address this, fostering strong partnerships and collaborative efforts to address determinants of health are integral for sustainable development. There have been instances where the provincial government has not adequately consulted with municipalities on bills, such as the More Homes, More Choice Act, 2019, or the funding changes regarding public health. The provincial government’s relationship with the Federal government also appears to be tenuous as both parties have had difficulty collaborating with one another on joint projects or agreed upon initiatives, such as environmental policies on reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Acknowledgement of Traditional Land

We wish to acknowledge this land on which the Wellesley Institute operates. For thousands of years, it has been the traditional land of the Huron-Wendat, the Seneca, and the Mississaugas of the Credit. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work on this land.
